Eastern Lakeside Resort

Hotel Hallormsstaður offers boating, riding, swimming and more

In the midst of Iceland’s largest forest, sits Hotel Hallormsstaður, perched atop a hill, overlooking Lake Lagarfljót. Resembling a lakeside resort, Hotel Hallormsstaður’s reputation is built on a commitment to serving guests, which is shown with the small touches of comfort in its rooms and when presenting a delicious dinner buffet that ranges from traditional Icelandic cuisine to international dishes like curried vegetables and seaweed salad. Guests can dine or drink a cup of coffee or tea on Hotel Hallormsstaður’s two outdoor patios that give a view of Lake Lagarfljót and Mt. Snaefell in the distance.
Spacious rooms are equipped with a television and en-suite bathroom. Rooms on the upper floor have a spectacular view of the lake and forest and rooms on the lower floor open onto an outdoor area where guests can sit on sunny days or enjoy a walk on one of the many nearby trails and soon, to an outdoor spa, planned for this spring.
Hotel Hallormsstaðir lies a short distance from East Iceland’s natural beauty circled by impressive waterfalls, en route to the highlands, and a short trip from Vatnajökull National Park and Mt. Snaefell. It can easily accommodate large groups and will open its doors in winter to cater specifically to meetings and special events.
